Yod has the numeric value 10. The base 10 number system is universal. Just as Yod is part of all of the previous letters of the alphabet (as a component), so Yod is part of all of the numbers.

In the Jewish mystical tradition, Yod represents a mere dot, a divine point of energy. Since Yod is used to form all the other letters, and since God uses the letters as the building blocks of creation, Yod indicates God's omnipresence. Yod is considered the starting point of the presence of God in all things - the "spark" of the Spirit in everything."4

Note: The Hebrew alphabet is made up of 22 letters. Each letter has a number equivalent, thus every word has a numerical equivalent as well. The Hebrew alphabet is rich in meanings.

Question: Every time You gave me Your name, You would give me its meaning. What is the meaning of Your name as Yod?

God’s Answer:

The All-Encompassing

Question: God, I feel very strange calling You Yod. I have never heard or read that this is Your name.

God’s Answer:

When He gave different names in the past (El Shaddai, YHWH), they (the people) have never heard of these names as well…especially YHWH.

Question: How do I pronounce this: Yod, Yode or Yud? (The name Yod is pronounced as Yode (rhymes with “mode”). However, when I first heard the name, I heard it as Yod, like the o in Lord.

God’s Answer:

It does not matter. He reminded me of the different ways people would pronounce my name. No matter how different the pronunciations were, I still knew it was me they were referring to. According to God, He is not prescriptive. In "linguistics, prescriptive means based on or establishing norms or rules indicating how a language should or should not be used rather than describing the ways in which a language is used.”5
